Responsibilities

 
PURPOSE:
 
Comply with the Caraustar Safety and Quality Policy. Support and achieve Caraustar’s Industrial Products Group World Class Quality Vision.  Facilitate and execute projects that support our Business Unit Quality Management System.  Implement continuous improvement processes to meet and exceed customer expectations. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensures a safe and healthy workplace producing high quality products.
- Assist in the development, implementation and management of the division Quality Management System, policies, and reporting.
- Manage quality activities including quality planning, FMEA’s, problem solving and customer corrective and preventive actions and Internal and External Audits.
- Assist Plant leadership in implementing quality policy, setting objectives and achieving annual improvement goals.
- Acts as a Caraustar representative for customer concerns; Evaluate products and processes at customer sites, as necessary.
- Track and report project progress; drive to completion.
- Share best practice with Plant Management teams.
- Performs other tasks as assigned including (but not limited to) OpEx and Quality.
- Comply in all respects with the Caraustar Standards of Business Conduct Policy provisions.
- Perform all required duties and tasks in accordance with Caraustar accounting policies and financial control procedures.
- Responsibility to be divided an estimated 90 percent of time with a Quality focus; 10 percent of time with an OPEX focus.
- R&D projects as assigned.  
 

Qualifications

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE & REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial Engineering, Business, Operational Management or other Engineering disciplines.
- At least 5+ years professional work experience in manufacturing/production environment with preference in paper industry.
- ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification and/or training, preferred
- Audit experience, preferred.
- Must demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Experience with customer interface.
- Experience in Lean/ Six Sigma tools and methodology preferred (SPC, DOE…).
- Experience training and coaching others in Quality and Problem Solving methodologies.
- Must have proven ability of creating professional presentations using facts and data.
- Must have strong project management and interpersonal soft skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Power Point, and statistical analysis software (Minitab), preferred.
- SharePoint experience, preferred.
- Travel is required. Varies but typically depart Monday mornings and return Thursday early evening.
